Approaching
Chronic disease & prevention From The Roots Up.
We are a clinic working to provide better healthcare by focusing on the most impactful elements of your overall health, wellness and disease.
We’re not a primary care clinic. Think of us as a specialist you’ll see for a short period.
We’re here to explain illness and disease, to answer your diet, exercise and aging questions, to clarify the mixed and misinformation out there, and to help you identify and address barriers to eating well.
We are not advocating a trendy diet or expensive supplements. You will learn what are fundamentally healthy (and unhealthy) food choices, based on cumulative data, and recognized worldwide by experts.
For diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, obesity and many other diseases, research data consistently support implementation of a plant-based diet, activity, reduced stress, and sufficient sleep.
We’re here to help you with these impactful lifestyle measures, with a goal of extending your healthspan.
“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
— Michael Pollan
COMMON LIFESTYLE DISEASES
-
Cardiovascular Disease
Today, 1 in 5 heart attacks are occurring in people UNDER 40! Can the world’s #1 killer really be reversed by diet and lifestyle? Plaque formation begins in childhood. Know your risk and the lifestyle measures to avoid having a heart attack.
-
Cancer
42% of cancer diagnoses and 45% of cancer deaths can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. New research continues to demonstrate how a healthy eating pattern is effective in improving prevention, mortality and recurrence of certain cancers.
-
Diabetes
Today, 1 in 3 Americans has some type of glucose intolerance. In a recent study, avoiding animal products led to a 78% reduction in type 2 diabetes along with the prevention of related complications such as kidney failure, neuropathy, blindness and amputations.
-
Hypertension
HTN is called the “silent killer“ because patients do not commonly experience symptoms. It is the leading global risk factor for death and disability. 46% of American adults are affected, increasing their risks of heart attacks, kidney disease, aneurysms and strokes.
Why Rooted Medicine
The Roots of Rooted Medicine Wellness Project
You have one life! And health is wealth, right?
At Rooted Medicine, we think everyone deserves a dose of inspiration and reliable information about health. We want you to know how your everyday lifestyle can be transformative in keeping or getting you well, and to empower you to make those decisions that can prevent or reverse disease.
Why now?
There exists a huge problem with a simple solution – simple, but not necessarily easy! We are in a devastating health crisis resulting from our diet and lifestyle that continues to worsen despite all of the latest advancements achieved in modern medicine (eg, medications, procedures, diagnostics). Medical training and patient care largely focus on the aftermath of our diseases, with little attention dedicated to prevention or the actual cause of disease.
Why now?
Even if your physician has the time to dedicate to nutrition research, the exhaustive schedule afforded by our health care system makes it impossible to implement in the typical patient visit. Our health care system takes a short-sighted view, and does not yet value (ie, reimburse) the time and effort to support lifestyle change.
To solve this crisis, and to improve your day-to-day and future days, we urgently need to address the root causes of disease as part of your medical care. Rooted Medicine is our small (but mighty) contribution.
Why now?
Misinformation is everywhere, and you’ve possibly spent hours and money on ineffective solutions. Here, we are embracing the basics that are arguably the most fundamental elements of your overall health and wellness. They’re beautifully complicated science but simple to understand: nutrition, activity, sleep and stress management. With such an influence, our mission is to make it known, inspire, and help you achieve better health through lifestyle measures.
Is your lifestyle helping or hindering your healthspan?
Lifespan is decreasing. If that’s not scary enough, so is our healthspan. Your health should not come down to endless internet browsing, guesswork or sketchy advice.
